Pete Garofola grew up in a small town in western Pa. As a teenager, he started working for a local Italian restaurant while in school. He continued working over the next 20 years while attending college, and working at another job at the same time. He worked in the kitchen doing any and every job, especially cooking. He was extremely dedicated, and took his job to heart. During large family and holiday gatherings, Pete helped with much of the cooking and had a lot of fun doing it.

While dating his future wife Diane, Pete had to spend most of his weekends working at the restaurant. Diane's father Joe ate there a lot, and saw that Pete was always working hard when he came in. Joe was very proud of his ethnic background, and the foods their family enjoyed. He quickly took notice of how proud Pete was of his own Italian heritage ,and food preparation. Then one day Joe was talking to Diane and he asked, "What's the "Big Deigo" doing? Making sauce, or spaghetti?" Joe said it in a stern, but affectionate way. It was definitely a new nickname that Joe came up with, a nickname that stuck!

Though many years have passed, Joe still calls Pete "The Big Deigo," and still asks what Pete is making! Definitely a great compliment!

Diane always told Pete that they should have their own restaurant because of his dedication, and passion for making INCREDIBLE Italian food. While entertaining, Pete adds many of his "specialties" to the menu, and you never ever leave their home hungry!
